Family Vacation Season

Like you, we love to travel.  With Memorial Day just 2 weeks away, we wanted to share some of our favorite travel destinations.  Most of these destinations are under the radar but have been enjoyed by locals for decades.

Hayward, Wisconsin

Historically the top choice of Kristian Regále, just "Up North" from Hudson is Hayward, WI.  Home to the freshwater fishing hall of fame, world lumberjack championships and the American Birkebeiner, the largest cross country ski marathon in North America.  This Northwoods playgroud has a little of everything for the family, both in summer and winter.  Just 2 hours by car from the Twin Cities and within a day's drive from Milwaukee or Chicago.

Longville, Minnesota

North of Brainerd, MN lies most of the 10,000 lakes that make up Minnesota tourism.  Longville, the "turtle racing capital of the world", is located right in between Brainerd to the south, Grand Rapids to the east and Bemidji to the northwest.  All you need is your fishing rod.  You can rent a boat or canoe just about anywhere.  This is what Birch Lake looks like.  They all look like this.  Just 3.5 hours north of Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Point Pleasant, New Jersey

The Jersey Shore is a no brainer.  The famous boardwalk in Point Pleasant is probably the best location to get the most out of your weekend on the shore.  Bring your beach towel secure your place in the sand and enjoy your day.  Either catch your superdose of vitamin D or get up and walk up and down the boardwalk, playing arcade games, eating a Jersey dog or just checking out "the situation" (bad pun intended).  Less than 2 hr from New York City.

Logan, Utah  (Cache Valley)

Logan is on top of Utah, it is located in the center of a beautiful wildlife area.  The Bear River is the largest tributary of the Great Salt Lake.  The Cache Valley is the area where the Rocky Mountains meet the Great Basin.  In the greater Logan area, there are unlimited opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and the wildlife.  Among them is the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge.  90 min north of St Lake City.
